American Plastics Council
The American Plastics Council is the founding partner of NMLSTA, and has supported plastic education outreach through NMLSTA since 1992.  This year at the NSTA National Convention in San Deigo, NMLSTA presented the new NMLSTA Middle Level Science Advocate Award to The American Plastics Council (APC) in grateful appreciation of their loyal support for the promotion and enhancement of middle level science 1991 - 2003.

Joan Hall, right, representing NMLSTA presented the award to Ms. Candy Score of the APC, shown here with Ms. Barbara Long, left, of the American Chemical Council.

NMLSTA very much appreciates the long term relationship with the APC and looks forward to working with the ACC in the future.

The APC is a national trade association representing 26 of the nation's largest resin producers. Founded in 1988, APC works to make plastics a preferred material by demonstrating they are a responsible choice in a more environmentally conscious world. APC has produced thousands of "Hands On Plastics" Kits, which was written by NMLSTA members, and are free to members of NMLSTA. They also support workshops where teachers can experience the learning cycle activities promoted in the kit. The APC grants to this organization have helped to promote middle level science education through workshops and breakfasts at NSTA Conventions as well as educate us about the properties, uses, and disposal of plastics in our environment.

Visit the American Plastics Council website or the Hands-on Kit section of this web site for more information on the Hands-on Plastics kits!
